On November 30, the 29th Annual General Meeting of the ASEAN Federation of Forwarders Associations (AFFA) continued with a series of outstanding and impressive events, including a signing ceremony between South Korea and ASEAN, discussion sessions, and a photo exhibition featuring the 1st International Logistics Photo Contest.
Attending the AFFA AGM 29 were Mr. Tran Thanh Hai, Deputy Director of the Import-Export Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, along with more than 120 delegates, including 78 international representatives from ASEAN member countries and South Korea.
In his opening speech at the forum, Mr. Le Duy Hiep, Chairman of the Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA), stated: “For the first time in the history of AFFA AGM 29, AFFA welcomes the participation and cooperation of the Korea International Freight Forwarders Association (KIFFA), highlighting the significance of regional business collaboration within ASEAN to develop the logistics service industry in preparation for the signing of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement in 2020.”
The highlight of the series of events was the signing ceremony of a cooperation agreement between AFFA and KIFFA, alongside discussions on measures to promote multimodal transport and cross-border transportation among countries in the region. The agenda also included activities aimed at advancing high-quality logistics human resource training to directly support the development of the logistics service sector for each member association and the ASEAN region as a whole, connecting to the global market and contributing significantly to the implementation of free trade agreements, particularly the RCEP, which is set to be signed in 2020.
AFFA AGM-29 provided an opportunity for domestic and international logistics service providers to meet, exchange work, and build long-term business relationships in the logistics service sector and the broader supply chain management industry. It also served as a platform for businesses within and beyond the association to promote and expand their trade activities. For OPL Logistics, AFFA AGM 29 presented a valuable opportunity to meet and expand business cooperation with international partners. Through B2B Business Matching sessions, where each national association invited 10 member companies representing key logistics service fields to exchange services with members of other associations, OPL Logistics and its partners gained opportunities to understand, connect, and strengthen cooperation in their activities.
